In what is something of a coup for Empire Cycles, its unique, motocross-inspired, highly acclaimed and revolutionary AP-1 downhill mountain bike will take pride of place on both Cane Creek’s and Hope Technology’s exhibitor stands at the main cycle trade shows this year. In a move that cements and validates the AP-1’s reputation as one of the most talked about and exciting products of 2009, the two highly respected manufacturers of top quality MTB components plan to use the hype that surrounds Empire Cycles’ über cool, hand-built DH bike as a backdrop to generate awareness of their latest products. “Empire has been a great OEM partner with Cane Creek,” said Cane Creek Component’s Brand Manager, Malcolm Hadley. “And each year for the trade show I like to bring something different, something that will catch the dealers' eye in the booth. Having the Empire Cycles AP-1 mounted with the Double Barrel shock and Cane Creek 110 headset should do the trick.” “The AP-1 actually has a custom graphic layout that looks pretty trick as well,” continued Hadley. “And that’s also something we can utilise at the trade shows to ensure the professional look and image of our Cane Creek stand.” You can find all of the Cane Creek Components, plus the celebrated AP-1, at booth 4175 of the Interbike International Trade Expo, which is all set to kick off in Las Vegas on 23rd to 25th September. Before then, though, Hope Technology has been proudly using the AP-1 as a clotheshorse for its range of high quality components at the Eurobike Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. And, if you are quick, you can get over to see the marriage of two of Britain’s finest MTB brands at stand B2-406 during the public day on Saturday, September 5. “For us, building an AP-1 to take to the shows with us was a no brainer really,” said Woody at Hope. “The bike uses a lot of our components anyway, plus its caused quite a stir in the DH world over the last eighteen months months, so it should generate a good bit of interest at the trade shows. What’s more, it’s nice to work with a British partner, and it’s something different for people to see. It’s also great that we can customise it with Hope graphics – the bike we’re using looks ace.” Affording the AP-1 even more kudos, Hope Technology has confirmed that it will also use the svelte curves of Empire’s applauded, cast-aluminium DH bike at the UK’s very own Cycle Show, which is taking place at Earls Court, London, on 8th – 11th October. Check it out on stand C8. Empire Cycles will also build Hope Technology another bespoke AP-1 to take to the 2009 Roc d’Azur Show in France, which is held over the same weekend as London’s Cycle Show on 8th – 11th October. So if you’re heading that way, be sure to check it out.
