| Empire Cycles AP-1 Celebrates 2010 Dirt 100 Inclusion |
|
Empire Cycles’ innovative downhill mountain bike, the AP-1, has made it into the 2010 Dirt 100 Special Edition, a comprehensive, exclusive and universally revered compilation of the World’s finest MTB products.
The AP-1’s inclusion in the highly respected Dirt 100 Special Edition, which is an annual publication that is written, designed and distributed nationally by fresh-thinking publisher Factory Media, cements its reputation as one of the most exciting and revolutionary framesets in the World. "We chose the Empire for two simple reasons: great geometry and design, and because of its uniqueness,” explained Mike Rose, editor of Dirt Magazine, the monthly MTB title behind the 2010 Dirt 100 Special Edition. “The Empire is made like no other, there really is no other bike quite like it. Construction aside, everything else is spot on, too. All the angles add up and its dimensions are as near perfect as you can get. It is a great British product." Seductively shot by one of the country’s leading magazine photographers, the 2010 Dirt 100 Special Edition is more than just a product guide, it is a celebration of innovation and engineering, and to be listed within its hallowed pages is yet further endorsement of Empire Cycles’ exceptional and distinctive products. “I was very proud to hear we had made it onto the 2010 Dirt 100,” said Empire Cycles’ Chris Williams. “For us it is an honour and in some way it validates our endeavour and hard work. We worked tirelessly when researching casting technology and developing the pioneering AP-1 frame. We were experimenting with materials and technology new to the MTB market so to get recognised like this for our effort is a great reward. It adds yet more kudos to the Empire Cycles stable and affirms the AP-1’s credentials as a serious contender in the global downhill mountain bike market.” The 2010 Dirt 100, which is out now and available in all good newsagents, dedicated half a page to sing the AP-1’s praises, saying: “The Empire is a unique machine. It looks like no other bike and has been formed like no other mountain bike, using casting techniques and technology developed for aerospace markets. The resulting product also rides like no other, the cast construction has been likened to riding a steel hardtail over an aluminium one; it takes that harshness out of the ground and deadens the trail. “Since we rode the first production frame the AP–1 has undergone a few detail changes,” continued the Dirt 100 feature. “The tooling has constantly been revised to ensure that the components are better than ever. For 2010, improvements have been made to the chain device, drop out and mainframe to create increased usability, reliability and strength of the design. The Empire has great geometry and sizing and the linkage is well thought out and developed. This is one fast and unique machine.” Click here to download a pdf of the full review. |
